All I Can Say is Thank You for Caring!

by Vickie Watson, Community Relations Specialist

This week marked the 17th Annual Day of Caring for United Way of Marshall County and was it ever a doozy! It was a record breaking event with approximately 440 people in attendance at the Campaign Kickoff breakfast. There were over 500 volunteers from 57 companies in Marshall County who adopted 119 projects for local nonprofit agencies.

Hospice of Marshall County, one of United Way of Marshall County’s 22 partner agencies, was chosen for 19 projects, anywhere from washing windows and pulling weeds at Shepherd’s Cove to delivering TLC bags to homecare patients. It was an amazing day for HMC! Those who could not come for a hands-on project collected numerous items for various other projects within the agency. For those of you who volunteered of your time or resources, you will never know the impact that you have made on someone else’s life!

Hospice of Marshall County staff also gives back each year for Day of Caring by adopting projects for other United Way agencies. We feel this community is so very generous to us, the least we can do, as a staff, is give something back.

In the famous words of Dr. Seuss, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” We, at HMC, simply want to say to those of you who give, advocate or volunteer…Thank you for Caring!
