It is such an honor to serve veterans at the end of life. We wish to honor their military service to our country in a new Memorial Day tribute. With the help of the Jimmy Harris VFW Post 6837, more than 70, 2-foot-tall white crosses will be on display in the front lawn of the Shepherd’s Cove facility at 408 Martling Road in Albertville. Each cross bears the name of a deceased veteran served by Shepherd’s Cove in the past year.
Additionally, a wreath will represent the lives of veterans previously served by Shepherd’s Cove Hospice. The display will also include special crosses honoring prisoners of war and those missing in action from World War II, the Vietnam War, and the Korean War.
You are welcome to visit the display any time between May 21 and June 4. We encourage you to park and walk among the crosses to view your loved one’s name and others, if you’re able. We also invite you to the opening ceremony on May 21 at 2 p.m. The Jimmy Harris VFW Post 6837 Honor Guard will lead the ceremony, which will include a roll call of names, followed by light refreshments in the Community Room.
